features...

the main features of this site can be found in the categories menu, this starts off with animated gifs, game related art, a few architectural highlights, amusement with comics, a section on monsters, nostalgic multiplayer shots and an extensive originals section.

topping that, there are specials: currently the compare section, where old beta shots are compared with actual in-game shots and an awe inspiring best of collection, where you can dive into the wonderful virtual word of that game in 20 screenshots. finally the configs section with extensive tips on console commands, key bindings, and cheat.

nostalgia - highlights

specials: game configs
playing games for me is quite a 'complete' experience: i read the manual, take my time diligently configuring the keys, take screenshots, slowly and methodically play the game looking into every corner, trying to find secrets. recently i started configuring the games i play, binding cheats to keys, like: clean hud-free screenshots, slow motion keys, fly mode (noclip), wide angle view / off-hand zoom, 3rd person view, god mode, and other interesting cheats. i.e. the zoom/wide-angle key bindings yield beautiful screenshots. to start off, take a look at the configs - half-life 2 and configs - unreal 2 pages for detailed tips. also note the example config files plus 1280x1024 full resolution & quality screenshot downloads.

categories: art - sin, originals - sin & architecture - sin
currently ritual the developers of sin are working on sin 2. the follow up is based on the valve's source engine (half-life 2), and will use steam to distribute the game episode by episode. this is sure to be quite an experience, since the folks at ritual always had that extra creative edge when it came to story, designs, art, architecture, music, etc.

all the more reason for a quick dive into the past, taking a closer look at the original sin game. you will find a few in-game screenshots and some very impressive art. sin had a really bad start back then, being released at the time half-life was, and everyone getting hysterical about half-life, but more or less ignoring sin. personally i liked sin just as much as half-life, and when it came to original ideas, design, architecture and story imo sin even surpassed half-life.

specials: best of - unreal
more photo safari shots from my fps game adventures. there are now 13 additional games showing off nifty designs and architecture in exactly 20 screenshots. be sure to check out all the other new best of pages as well for...
aliens vs. predator 2 + mission pack, daikatana, duke nukem manhattan project, half-life opposing force, max payne, mcgee's alice, no one lives forever, quake ii - ground zero, serious sam, star trek - ds9 the fallen, tribes 2, and unreal.
categories: originals - prey
since prey is finally in development again - using the doom 3 engine - fans will probably be interested in taking a look at how things started, way back in 1998.

enjoy a bit of prey-nostalgia!

specials: compare - quake iii arena
a compare of beta quake iii arena shots with up to date in-game screens is quite special, since game companies rarely release early beta material. i have tried to match the beta scenes with scenes found in the retail version of q3a.
specials: best of - unreal 2
when playing fps games, i always also go on a photo safari tour, to help me note and remember all the nifty designs and architecture. in exactly 20 screenshots i try point out the highlights, in this case of unreal 2. be sure to check out all the other best of pages.
specials: compare - quake
a compare of beta quake shots with up to date in-game glquake screens lets us glimpse at how the quake levels evolved. differing from the q3a compare, many of the quake shots were actually already quite final, only very few things were changed.
categories: originals
long before games are actually available at your local store, screenshots will probably have you drooling for the game. interestingly enough, the earlier these shots are released, the less they actually have to do with the retail version of the game. here is your chance to re-check on those screens for quite a few games!
categories: comics - dank & scud
dank & scud are just your regular two quakers, exploring the doom/quake world, and at some point even the half-life world. dive into michael houston's wild and furiously hilarious creation - a must read for any honest quaker!
categories: art - sin
games are not only fun, but also seem to inspire the artists out there to create something new and special for their favorite titles. based on the quake ii engine, ritual did an astounding job with sin, with gripping story and visually stunning levels. check out some of the gorgeous art for this title!
